Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and sit back to enjoy!

The Guidelines
Anyone can join, and what better time to start, than at the beginning of the year. It only takes 2 motifs a month to tat 25 in a year. You can do 2 motifs a month, can't you?

1. Permission to copy. When a participant joins they are authorizing me to copy their pictures to be shown on the challenge blog.
2. The blogs are ALL checked whenever there is an update using the links list in the sidebar on the right, there is no need to advise me that you have added new content. If your new items haven't shown up, it's because I haven't had time to do an update yet.
3. I can't keep track of how many motifs each person does. You may post articles of tatting that you don't plan on including in your 25, or you may post a pair of earrings and count each earring as a separate motif. I don't read minds, so it's up to each participant to tell me when they have reached their goal of 25.
4. From past experience I know the challenge is addictive. If you finish and plan on doing it again let me know so that I continue to check your blog on a regular basis. Also let me know if once was enough so that I can move your blog to the list of past participants.
5. Whenever you get a chance don't just view the pictures here, take the time to click on the links to people's blogs and read all about what they are doing, instead of just getting the snippets of it here. People like it when you take the time to visit their blog and comment on their work. A lot of the fun of the challenge is that we get to know each other and encourage one another to try new things.
6. Tatting 25 motifs in a year typically means tatting 2 motifs per month. Tatters who do not post any tatting content for 5 or 6 months will be removed from the list of participants.
---------------

Sarah tatted Marilee Rockley's "pointed snowflake with double picots" pattern following her instructions using a shuttle and ball, which gives sharp points to the snowflake as shown on the left. She tatted it a second time with 2 shuttles making the outer rings with the second shuttle to show the difference on the right.

Batty Tatter is working on doily number 6 from Jan Stawasz's book Tatting theory and patterns which is progressing more smoothly than she thought it would. She had a few problems with Jane's goat that seems to have gotten twisted around, but she did what she could with it. She and her daughter took a water colour class and her meadow just needed the goat with some flowers.

Elsa took the tatting pattern from the book Fascinating Tatting by Tomoko Morimoto worked in green and turned it into a tree to decorate a water colour card. This design is made from a Thérèse de Dillmont pattern in The Tatting, DMC Library, 1924. This flower is made with polyester thread size 40 in colours Tenax Ivory and straw with vintage beads. It's been artfully mounted on a pin with other colourful motifs.
For Christmas, her sister wanted a tatted necklace 150 cm long following the patterns she had used to decorate pens earlier and this is the result in size 30 Ivory polyester thread with delicas 15/0 Miyuki seed beads and small red stones.

Melanie has started Jane's TIAS for 2016.

Mary Lena has created a lovely lace and pearl necklace with a band of pearls at the neck and a pearl in the centre of the middle ring of the cloverleaf points.

Julie finished her 25th motif making a delicate pair of earrings using a strand of  Lizbeth 20 and a strand of Metallic At Sextant In Silkworms Silk to give it sparkle on a pattern by Decoromana. She used the Minor Norwegian Dragon pattern by Anne Bruvold as a basis for a split ring tutorial. The tutorial is helpful since Jane Ebarall's TIAS makes use of split rings.

Sue has begun the TIAS and thinks it's an umbrella. Her "go to" pattern when she can't think of what to tat is Jane Eborall's diamond pattern which she has made into various earrings.

Lelia has listed several upcoming tatting events.

Grace tatted this doily from a Russian site and notes that she missed a join on round 2 and the doily lies better for it and that not all of the patterns from the site work out perfectly. This small white snowflake is from Lindsay Rogers' book Tatting Collage. The blue ones and gold ones are from Lene Bjorn's book of snowflakes and the little gold one is made of Sunlight size 60 colour Oro from Edda Guastalla's shop. The blue variegate pictured is Master size 30 turchese also from Edda's shop. The white/blue snowflake is from Joelle Paulson's blog made in size 20 Lizbeth Blue Ice. The small flower shaped flakes at right are from Jennifer Williams' snowflake book.  Made of Range Multicolor also from Edda's shop, glass beads. donated 8 snowflakes to our school for their fundraising auction.  The majority of the rest were made for an order of blue and white, Frozen theme, a total of 8 pictured below. The pumpkin earrings were done in size 20 Lizbeth and she thinks the stems are Leafy Greens. The snowflake earrings are from Decoromana's snowflake pattern done in white size 10 Aunt Lydia's with iridescent twist. The red ones are in size 10 with a metallic twist, Garden Metallic. Light blue wreath is Posy from Mary Konoir's book Tatting with Visual Patterns. She tatted the Nell Angel from the 2015 Palmetto Tatters Guild CD using a short piece of red size 10 Garden Metallic for the centre berry and the green is Lizbeth 167 thread, encapsulated to make the center berry. Donata Jones Angel in an Hour and Lenore English's Dimpled Ring Angel are 2 designs she hasn't done before. She tatted five angels, left to right, Gladys Angel by Sharren Sarver Morgan, Recumbent Angel by Donata Jones, Dimpled Ring Angel by Lenore English, Angel in an Hour by Donata Jones, Ice Angel by Anitra Stone, at her husband's request as part of a gift. The angels are displayed in a beautiful light up box her husband made.

Claire did a lot of tatting which she can now show as the recipients all have their gifts. She did two modified floral bookmarks in Lizbeth size 20, colour Falling Leaves # 100. She did Wave earrings by Corina Meyfeldt, both with 6mm beads, one in turquoise thread, Ocean Teal Dark # 665 and 11/0 transparent beads; the other in black Black # 604 and silver beads 11/0. She also tatted the mini Frivolous snowflake in Lizbeth size 20 colour Blue Ice # 163.

Diane is ready for the final join on her Jan Stawasz Masterpiece, but it needs to wait until she's back. She's thrilled to have it finished and as soon as she can clear the reorganizational clutter off her table, she plans to give it pride of place. In the course of clearing clutter she found Nilam from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff that she had started some time ago. She spent more time organizing than tatting but did get a little more accomplished. Now that she has completed Nilam by Jon Yusoff, she noticed a couple of mistakes but they're little things like a lumpy chain from twisted thread and a missed join that she fixed by sewing it together. This is the beginning of Kencana from Elegant Tatting Gems by Jon Yusoff, another piece that she started and then got distracted.  It may have been tatting while tired, but she's made a mistake on Kencana and decided to just snip it off the shuttles and start something familiar, a Spinning Wheel glass mat in blue from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. Having a pattern memorized decreases the chances of making a mistake so she's groovin' along. See? She's already half way through it.

Fox had trouble getting started with the Land of Laces pattern but it's well on it's way. A slow beginning, but now it's just zipping along.

Jenn decided to start 2016 off tatting Robin Perfetti's Frauberger Doily pattern using Lizbeth #20 white and #115 Springtime.

Marie decided she needed a whole matching set so she made this necklace with the pendant deing an old single earring. She used three strands of sewing thread (2 strands rayon and one strand metallic) to tat Snowflake 2009, by Sharon Briggs.

Muskaan has been playing with daisy picots, cotter pin links, faux celtic tatting and overlapping split rings.

HisKid found the Beaded Flower pattern from Corina Meyfeldt just captured her attention tatted in size 40 Kaleidoscope HDT from Tat-i-licious, but she skipped a bead and it didn't matter because she didn't have enough thread to finish it anyway. She tatted it again, but it doesn't look like the picture so she's going to try it another time but lower the stitch counts. Here's one more done with the shorter stitch count so it looks more like the picture. She gave it another try making 5 points instead of 6 because she had limited thread. With the remaining thread she tatted a small bookmark. Here's a project she started and then it fell by the wayside. She's finished the round using size 10 Lizbeth Blue Ice thread, and some clear iridescent beads for sparkle. She tatted a bracelet last year but wanted to see what it would look like in size 40 Lizbeth Navy thread with silver beads.

Wanda made the centre of this design starting with Joy's Heart, one of her earlier patterns and added the arms to make it into a cross worked in Lizbeth #670 Victorian Red thread in size 20.
